This was a great opportunity for you to help our local charities while helping yourself as well. For a measly $5, you could have given them out as stocking stuffers, or used them as a real cheap way to buy yourself back into an ungrateful family.

Numbers are drawn each night in January, so you could be winning 31 times!
(But you probably won't. I'll bet you).

If you procrastinated too long this time, you should probably put this on your calendar for next December so you don't "forget" again.

Charity Award Night
January 21, 2026​​​​
I hope you had the chance to attend our monthly January meeting to watch all the money being given out. As always, the organizations that we donated to were there to update our members on the good work that they had accomplished in 2025, as well as their plans for 2026. It was obvious that the money we saved up last year was going to some wonderful causes.
The upstairs meeting room at Monaghan's Pub was again filled to capacity with us and the representatives of our selected charities. Many of the people couldn't even sit down, but they all stuck it out none the less.
​Including the money distributed on this night, our Roost has now given out over $121,000 since our first Charitable Donation Night in 2016. Photos of each donation can be found in the scrolling window on our Home Page.
Without our Roost members and loyal Roost supporters, however, we are nothing. Unlike the government, our Roost can't just print money. We must rely upon your charitable nature to provide us with the means to distribute these funds. Our Roost conducts a number of fund-raising activities each year, but make no mistake, the money being distributed was yours.

On behalf of our entire Roost membership, we thank Monaghan's Pub and all of you for your support. You're the greatest!​​
Polar Bear Plunge - 2026
Sandy Point State Park

Mother Nature sure gave us a lickin' on that Saturday, but our Ravens Roost 138 Plunge Team kept on tickin' anyway!
One of our plungers actually went to the beach early intent on immersing himself completely in the ice-cold water, but the security guys there told him he would just go in up to his knee.
Bummer!
Oh well.
The "smarter contingent" of the Ravens Roost 138 Plunge Team decided that Mother Nature was NOT going to have her way with us. They created a series of outdoor, bone-chilling events they could complete in while at Monaghan's Pub instead.
They also involved freezing cold (8 degree) temperatures and ice cold water too, just not as much as at Sandy Point Beach. No Speedos or bikinis were involved, but our plungers got more than their share of cold anyway.
Thanks to all those that "plunged" as well as all those who saw fit to donate their hard-earned money to our dedicated plungers.
Money well donated, I assure you.

We had a record number of plungers on our team last year, and we matched that record number again in 2026. Our Plunge Team finished 4th among all Ravens Roost plunge teams, by generating a total of $5,330 for Special Olympics Maryland.
